Patrick JOOSTEN
Contemporary Abstract Artist
French contemporary artist exploring the tension between gesture, matter, and chromatic intensity. Through an intuitive yet structured approach to abstraction, Patrick Joosten develops a pictorial language where movement, color, and emotional density converge into immersive visual fields. His works operate at the intersection of instinct and control, evoking both physical presence and inner landscapes.
Curatorial Statement
Painting as Energy, Structure, and Emotional Space
Patrick Joosten constructs a body of work rooted in the expressive possibilities of abstraction, where painting becomes a field of tension rather than representation.
His practice is driven by a fundamental question:
how can color and gesture translate invisible states of energy?
Working with layered compositions, dynamic brushwork, and dense chromatic interactions, his paintings evoke organic movement, atmospheric depth, and a sense of controlled spontaneity.
Rather than illustrating forms, his work proposes visual environments spaces in which perception is destabilized and reconfigured.
Each canvas operates as a visual trace of process, where immediacy and reflection coexist.
Fields of research
FragmentationExploration of rupture, instability, and deconstruction of form within pictorial space.
Gesture-driven compositions shaped by rhythm, flow, and spatial energy.
Chromatic and material fields generating perceptual depth and intensity.
